Presentation Images and Links: Achieving Total Health – RWJF Aligning Forces for Quality

I am back from Orlando, and what can I say, it was a huge honor to spend time with Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Aligning Forces for Quality teams at their semi-annual meeting. The discussion went from payment reform to consumer involvement in one day, and not in a theoretical way, in a “we’re making this happen in our community” kind of way. You see, there is often discussion about the fact that the problems of health and health care in our society are not felt equally by all stakeholders, so solutions are hard to come by. This initiative “teams up those who get care, give care and pay for care” with the understanding that patients have more power than they think. I don’t think there’s anything like this in health care, and it shows how a philanthropy can stimulate innovation in a unique and meaningful way.

Thanks a ton to the sponsor of this journey, Mike Painter, MD ( @paintmd ), and the nurses, physicians, consumers (yes, consumers), and other health care leaders who were present and engaged in across stakeholder groups. I have to quote Julie Schoenecker, MHA, from the Alzheimer’s Association, Western New York Chapter, who approached me as a new member of her alliance. We talked for a little while about what we know, what we don’t know, and what could be done, and then she looked at me with a determined face and said, “I’m going to be up there next year (talking about what we’ve done)!” How great is it to see drive like that? Very.

In this post, I’ve placed the images of the slides I used, plus the links to all the resources I mentioned in the dialogue today.

I like things to be as accessible as possible, so if you would rather see this in slideshare format, click to see this post. If you would rather see the links in a more downloadable form, click this link. What else? Let me know, and keep caring, @AligningForces !
