Thank you for using my photograph, Towleroad (@tlrd), in this piece documenting the reversal of policy toward making equitable health care available for transgender people who are veterans. They should always have had access to gender-affirming surgery, and never should have been banned from the military in the first place (the occasion for the photograph, taken in 2017 in Washington, DC).

I thank all of our veterans for their service, and I thank all of our veterans who are transgender for their patience while the Department of Veterans Affairs learned to ❤️ and respect better.
