Thank you for using my photo in this piece, GM-free Scotland (on Facebook).
I’ve placed these photos of the impossible and other ultra-processed foods online so they can be used to illustrate the problem we seem to be having with food today:
- Plant-Based used to imply “healthy,” now it is the new branding for junk food
- The burger itself is within current United Stated Dietary Guidelines for Americans, because it has been engineered to have low saturated fat and plenty of grains.
- As the blog post linked to points out, the bio-engineered (or genetically modified, GMO) soy carries with it the risk of glyphosate exposure and its designation as a probable carcinogen by the World Health Organization.
Noting that this food will need to carry a special seal because of its bio-engineered status:

Dietary Guidelines for Americans?
With the Dietary Guidelines for Americans up for renewal in 2020, how will people prevent chronic illness or reverse pre-diabetes with foods like this?
Plant based burgers are essentially highly processed, environmentally damaging fake, food-like substances.
