Thanks for publishing my photograph, @DCist.

It was taken at a most fascinating place in Washington, DC, a cemetery that has its own LGBTQ section, where J. Edgar Hoover is buried, just a few graves away from his partner, Clyde Tolson.

And this important tombstone

“A Gay Vietnam Veteran: When I was in the military they gave me a medal for killing two men – and a discharge for loving one.”

The LGBT section at Congressional Cemetery started when Leonard Matlovich chose a plot near J. Edgar Hoover. He designed his headstone to resemble that of the Vietnam Memorial

You’d expect a cemetery to brim with history, and it doesn’t disappoint.
