Thank you for publishing my photograph, @Washingtoninan.

It’s of newly elected ANC Commissioner Monika Nemeth (@TheMonikaNemeth), who just made history, as the article mentions.

The photograph is from her first run last year, when she asked me to take photographs of her in and around the neighborhood she serves (ANC3F). We knew she was going to make history then.

I blogged one of the photographs last year, in this post about the 73 Cents Mural, which is also in ANC3F:

Thanks for publishing my photo and publishing Regina Holliday: 73 Cents: A Mural – American Journal of Kidney Diseases

I will only do commissioned work if it furthers my ❤️ of Washington, DC and enables the capturing of the human spirit. Our time together on the photoshoot was fun and a great opportunity to get to know each other and build a friendship that continues across many experiences in our nation’s capital, the most inclusive city in the world.

This must be the ANC with more leaders who happen to be women per capita than any other in the universe. The future has to start somewhere. In other words, I can’t believe how great this century has become 🙂 .

“I never envisioned that I could be an out trans woman and be a public figure,” the new ANC commissioner says.
