Emerging Science of Carbohydrate Restriction and Nutritional Ketosis, Columbus, Food Innovation Center, The Ohio State University
I am back from the Food Innovation Center (@food_center) at The Ohio State University where, as usual, I learned as much about life as I did about the science of carbohydrate restriction and nutritional ketosis. That’s why one goes to a conference in addition to watching the content later (I do both).
Academic Mobbing and Health
We were treated to an audience with Professor Tim Noakes (@ProfTimNoakes) who told us about his experience with academic mobbing. He said during his talk that if not for his wife, he would have committed suicide.
I hear and see other versions of this, in the form of accomplished clinicians and researchers who are being told they cannot say certain words in an academic setting. In my own career, as I have mentioned previously, I have seen the devastation of people and lives by a medical profession that didn’t listen. Let us not forget:
Transformational leaders are the ones who help others control their health and life destinies, starting with their own
I really enjoy/am energized by human beings who are able to achieve their destiny, because it’s what I came to health care to help people to do. Only when you see it can you know how to help others get to it. In a a health environment where the only approved language is “diabetes progression,” these examples are few and far between. Except here.
There are patients, doctors, nurses, therapists, scientists (trained and self-trained), name-your-profession/vocation here for health. I am especially impressed in the clinician-wellbeing space, by the number of clinicians who report significant satisfaction at being able to truly help their patients. The satisfaction is independent of hours worked from my qualitative interviews.
Having healthy conferences doesn’t have to be optional
If you’re going to host a meeting about nutrition, you should make sure the nutrition served is healthy. And yet, I find this to not be the case in the majority of conferences I go to. Except these conferences – availability of real food, with healthy fats, no refined/artificial foods.
Compare to what I normally see:
The 🌎 is learning to ❤️ better
It’s unmistakeable, wherever I go that the confluent passions come together and tell the same story
We all came to health care to change everything. The future arrived and it’s as great as I thought it would be.
