Thank you for publishing my photographs, @ggwash.

They were taken six years apart, in Freedom Plaza. I agree with the premise of the article, that at some level Freedom Plaza is a failure, & I’m impressed with myself that I understand why this can be a problem.

On the other hand, Freedom Plaza succeeds in being a place where community forms, as shown from the photographs. That’s why I go there.

It’s still ❤️ DC, regardless.

One of Freedom Plaza’s designers, architect Denise Scott Brown, described the original design as “a lovely success” but said “I see the execution as a failure.”
