It’s been awhile since I’ve been acquainted with the beautiful photography of Howard Hollem, who captured the people (women) working to save our country during World War II.

This photograph is part of a collection on display at National Portrait Gallery (@NPG) right now. I selectively captured the photographs of people working who are women, given the national conversations that are happening today (for ones specific to the medical profession, try hashtags #WallsDoTalk and #QuoteHer). For this exhibit, use #SweatOfTheirFace

“The Sweat of Their Face” combines art and social history with representations of American laborers across genres and centuries of art. Artists such as Winslow Homer, Dorothea Lange, Elizabeth Catlett and Lewis Hine depict laborers throughout the changing landscape of America; from child and slave laborers to miners, railway and steel workers, to the modern gradual disappearance of the worker.”The Sweat of Their Face, National Portrait Gallery
