Thanks for publishing my photograph, @PNS_News.

I am especially impressed that they are covering a Transgender Day of Remembrance event in South Dakota. According to the Williams Institute, there are 2150 transgender people in South Dakota, 0.34% of the population, ranked 46th in size. Leading is never easy, and it’s harder when there are less community supports. This speaks to the importance of visibility, and one of the projects I’m working on, which is to bring a transgender symbol and pride flag to emoji.

This quote from the piece is important

“You know, there are over 7 billion people on the planet and to me, that means there are over 7 billion ways to be a human being.”Source: South Dakotans Mark Transgender Day of Remembrance
