Thanks for publishing my photo, @ggwash. It’s of Danica Roem, who is a candidate for Delegate in District 13, Virginia. While this post is not an endorsement of a candidate (Greater Greater’s post is), I do endorse greater diversity among our elected officials. I got to see candidate Roem speak (where I took the photograph) and again in front of the White House a few weeks later, and I’m reminded of the determination that underrepresented candidates (in Danica’s case, she is transgender) bring to their work. It’s why I consider many in these communities to be exceptional role models for everyone, including me.

I’d also like to compliment the Greater Greater Washington team for discussing Roem as a candidate for elected office, on the merits of her policy positions, and not on the basis of her gender.

Enjoy the future. I do, every day 🙂 .

Greater Greater Washington is officially endorsing Ralph Northam for governor, Erik Gutshall for Arlington County Board, Danica Roem for Delegate in District 13 (Prince William/Manassas Park), and Kathleen Murphy for Delegate in District 34 (Fairfax/Loudoun).
