Thanks (again) for publishing my photograph, @ggwash. It’s of the brand new @TheWharfDC development that is kicking off this week. The stage was just being set when I visited (via active transportation of course).

You can see the Washington Monument in the background for orientation. It’s really interesting to walk to the Wharf from L’Enfant Plaza, by the way, with its neobrutalist structures (planned by I.M. Pei) and heritage of not-the-best-way-to-improve-an-urban-environment history. The Plaza just sort of ends at Banneker Park (for cost reasons, it was not extended to the waterfront).

Rest of my photos from my walk are here, enjoy.

It’s no surprise that this week, the Greater and Lesser Washington Flickr pool filled up with images from the opening of the Wharf. Here are a few of our favorites from DC’s newest neighborhood, and some other great shots elsewhere in DC. Happy weekend!Source: Bright lights, bigger city in the Flickr pool – Greater Greater Washington
