Thanks for publishing my photo, @DCist.

It was taken in the Shaw neighborhood of Washington, DC, while I was reading the new book by Derek Hyra (@DerekHyra), Race, Class, and Politics in the Cappuccino City.

My walk around the Shaw neighborhood show a lot of what’s described in the book – you can see the past, the present, and the future within just a few feet of each other here. The book and this city really make a person think about what it would mean for everyone to have what they need. It’s why we’re here. I’ll post on the book soon.

Rest of the photos from my recent walk below – read the captions by clicking through to read about what happened in these spaces previously. You can tell that this is an incredible learning lab for our society.

I took a few more walks and will post those photos as well.

How students fared without technology this summer, Capital Bikeshare cost confusion, and more end-of-day stories.
