Thank you, Colchester Pride (@ColchesterPride) for using two of my photos to adorn the web site for your first ever pride event, happening on August 19, 2017!

The photograph is of rainbow flag displays on 17th Street, NW, in Washington, DC, during our annual Capital Pride event in June, 2017. Occasionally my photographs go semi-viral and the one above is one of them (I define as greater than 1,000 views).

I actually didn’t know where Colchester was, so I did a little research and found that it’s the oldest town in Britain, and:

Colchester is reputed to be the home of three of the best known English nursery rhymes: ‘Old King Cole’, ‘Humpty Dumpty’ and ‘Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star’.Colchester – Wikipedia

What’s special about the time my photos were taken is that it was the weekend that we painted 7 rainbow crosswalks on 17th Street, NW, and the first ever transgender pride flag crosswalk in the United States. At Mayor Muriel Bowser’s press conference, she pronounced Washington, DC the most inclusive city in the world. It fits.

I hope Colchester has a marvelous first pride, with my compliments. So fitting that the most inclusive city in the world, Washington, DC, gets to help the oldest town in Britain, be more inclusive.

Cheers.
