Bianca (above) is celebrating the first ever transgender pride crosswalk in the United States. SaVanna Wanzer, below is being celebrated at 27 years of Black Pride in Washington, DC as an unsung hero (see: Search #WhatAHeroLooks like: 27 Years of DC Black Pride )
The article is important and discusses a reality that most people never think about – limitations in freedom of movement because of your identity. Washington, DC recently allowed its residents to eliminate their gender marker on government issued ID (first in the nation, where the future is born…). It’s a good thing, however/and what comes with it are complications created by society in the validation of one’s identity by our future 51st State.
I’d like to point out the words written below the photograph of SaVannah.
