Supporting active transportation, at tonight’s Transportation + Health Meetup

As part of the package of innovation for tonight’s Transportation + Health Meetup (98 RSVPs! Hashtag: #TechiesDCHealth), the Kaiser Permanente Center for Total Health (@KPTotalHealth) got this snazzy Transitscreen, which shows transportation options in real time from our facility. If you want to see it in real time, click this link, which is courtesy TransitScreen(@TransitScreen), and will expire after March 6, 2014.

Unlike two days ago, when all metrobus service was suspended, the screen helps any visitor understand transportation options that don’t involve private automobiles. Can you imagine this and other innovations connecting transportation to health? I can.

It doesn’t stop there, check out this agenda for tonight sent along by Michael Schade (@mvs202)

We are so exited to have Jeff Olson (Alta principal and author of The Third Mode) presenting tomorrow. In fact, we have a crew of awesome people joining us: Tracy Loh from Rails-to-Trails, Jamie Palumbo from GWU, Chris Pyke from the Green Building Council, Laurie Schintler and Raj Kulkarni from GMU, Mark Silverberg from Social Health Insights, and Marc Cunningham from John Snow, Inc. (Oh yeah, me too!)

See you tonight at 6:00 pm, along with a lot of healthy food – we not only change transportation, we change the culture of meetups 🙂
