GlassMakesFriends with Surgeons, at ACSCC13

This week is the American College of Surgeons Annual Clinical Congress, in Washington, DC, and the Kaiser Permanente Center for Total Health (@kptotalhealth) opened its doors to visiting surgeons from across Kaiser Permanente, and friends/supporters. We did a brief tour of the Center and then, of course, the Google Glass (@GoogleGlass) came out.

Permanente medical groups are multi-specialty, which means that primary care physicians train and work collaboratively with our specialists, who we appreciate and are grateful for. I’ve been trained by great ones, who are as interested in when to operate as much as in when not to operate, and when to innovate for the health of our patients.

Daniel Klaristenfeld, MD, FACS, from Southern California Permanente Medical Group (@SCPMG) is part of the Young Fellows Association of the American College of Surgeons and was our host  He’s also poster presenter this year on the innovation he’s led in laparoscopic abdominal surgery.

Enjoy the photographs and don’t count the medical profession out. As much as our patients are changing the landscape of health, our surgeons are too.
