Transgender In America | On Point with Tom Ashbrook.
This radio show was broadcast on WBUR (@OnPointRadio), an NPR Station, on August 28, 2013, and includes the stories of parents, grandparents, children, aunts, and uncles.
It includes as a panelist Andrew Solomon (@andrew_solomon), who wowed so many at TEDMED this year.
As you listen, I think you’ll hear the commonalities that people who are transgender share with all human beings – the desire to achieve their life goals, to be accepted, and to accept and care for others. For me, it was a reminder of the profound, positive effect that health care can have for a person who is transgender – if they have access to it.
They happened to use my photograph as the main image for the show, which delights me. I believe that one of the most important things a physician can do in society is to help the invisible be visible.
The photograph features Ruby Corado (@casarubyDC) who has led so many in our nation’s capital in support of inclusion and health for all.
Enjoy, comments welcome.
