Photo Friday: Sparklers in Malcolm X Park, Washington, DC

This week’s photograph was published in both of Washington, DC’s major metropolitan blogs, DCist: Photo Booth: Kaboom! , and WeloveDC.com: Fireworks Flashback.

I took it right after the 4th of July Fireworks at Malcolm X Park, also referred to as Meridian Hill Park, which is historically interesting as former potential site of the White House.

I am always more interested in the people watching the fireworks than the fireworks themselves (see previous photo from another park : “Watch the Audience” ). I think people should spend time watching the audience as much as the performance, it’s the reactions that count.

I thought this was a great DC moment, the community spirit can’t be beat. Enjoy.
