Night of Service at #SatNightSips Washington DC

I’ll admit, I was a little terrified when they asked, “do you have any restaurant experience?” I’ve seen the reality shows and talked to people in the business. Nevertheless, it was a great opportunity to volunteer for two great Washington institutions, Martha’s Table and DC Central Kitchen, at Saturday Night Sips.

We were supported by Kaiser Permanente’s MLK Day of Volunteerism (where employees are given the holiday in exchange for service to their communities), and Clinovations ( @Clinovations ), whose Karen Hwang and Greg Fuller, poured wine, passed pickles (my job), and food prep, with lots of coat check, and maybe the 29 degree run to Safeway for napkins….It was a blast, as was the experience of meeting the other volunteers and learning about their support and passion for service and food for all.

You’ll find photos of gorgeous food, drink and people online, my photos are of a lot of work behind the scenes, which came together so nicely on a Saturday night. Kudos to the event organizers for creating a great opportunity for others to learn about local organizations who support those in need.
