What does this have to do with health care?
Besides the fact that diversity is a health issue (commented on elsewhere in this blog) we can remember the power of the bond between person and family is among the strongest that exists. Attempting to break that bond in the delivery of care, whether it is separating patients from their families physically, or through denying access to helpful information, is a bad idea. And why do we want to do that anyway? We don’t. Because love always wins. Congratulations, California.
