Kaiser Permanente Named the First Health and Hospital System to Earn a Perfect Rating on the Human Rights Campaign Healthcare Equality Index

As I mentioned previously on this blog, the end of discrimination for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people in hospitals is being accelerated by our administration.

Today. Kaiser Permanente is named as the First Health and Hospital System to Earn a Perfect Rating on the Human Rights Campaign Healthcare Equality Index. The Kaiser Permanente Patients’ Bill of Rights fully protects lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender patients as well as their families from discrimination.

Kaiser Permanente joins several other top performing hospitals and clinics, as announced by the Human Rights Campaign today.

It’s nice to be a part of a system that’s first in recognizing the importance of equality. As with other firsts, though, the happiness comes when we are the 3,000th, because every patient in every system deserves to be free of discrimination in health care (and in all of society).
