In New York City, they talk about “cupcake wars” (or as I like to say, “cupcake controversy”). In California, they discuss, “cupcake consciousness.” In Washington, DC, it’s definitely about “cupcake conspiracies.”

I couldn’t resist the opportunity to visit my favorite Smithsonian on this special day. I decided not to stick around for the de-installation at 5pm. Too many carbs at one sitting. Here’s a link to a more complete set of photos. Enjoy.

  • Twitter under the microscope, from HP labs – even when using a very weak definition of “friend” (i.e., anyone who a user has
directed a post to at least twice) we find that Twitter users have a very small number of
friends compared to the number of followers and followees they declare. This implies the
existence of two different networks: a very dense one made up of followers and followees, and
a sparser and simpler network of actual friends.
